An Easter Letter From Fr. Richard On behalf of our parish staff I wish you and your families a very blessed and happy Easter! In the Gospel accounts of the morning of the resurrection, when the disciples of Jesus come to the empty tomb, they discover in the tomb only the shroud that once covered the dead body of Christ. That shroud had bound the body of Jesus in death – but now Jesus is victorious over death, which no longer binds Him at all. Like the shroud cast off to the side, death has been thrown off forever. The victory of Jesus over death is complete – the love of God is far stronger than our fears, our sins, even than death itself! As a community of faith we will spend the next 50 days celebrating that victory. A word of thanks to all those who helped clean and decorate the churches for Easter as well as all those who made the liturgies of Holy Week and Easter so beautiful. The highlight of these celebrations saw the baptism, confirmation and first communion of many adults who have been preparing for the sacraments for many months now. Thank you to our RCIA teams who dedicate so much time and talent. Thank you to our lectors, Eucharistic ministers, altar servers, sacristans, and ushers for all your generosity. All of our liturgical ministers served under the direction of Ed Archer, without whom the beauty of our celebrations would be greatly diminished! A special word of thanks to our director of music, Amy Sturomski, and the musicians and singers who helped make the liturgies so beautiful. Finally, I express my personal gratitude to our parish staff for their dedication and generosity: Fr. Irenaeus, Fr. Fabian, Sr. Kathy, Deacon Marty, Kathy Whalen, Beth Dondero, Anne Danza, Bob Haight and our youth ministers, Natalie and Billy Figueroa. Fr. Richard |
